This painting was a part of a series of quick expressive self-portraits that were made with a photograph as a loose reference. The concept was for Janessa Bookout to share the feeling of the various "characters" she has played in her professional life. 

This was an experiment to play with loose expressive brushstrokes built up with thin layers of colored acrylic paint washes. This piece was finished with a thick black contour line drawing to flatten the portrait into a "cartoon-esque character" rather than a photorealistic image.
